dears,
can you please advise on how to backup azure sql servers services? not azure vms with sql servers
im talking about the paas sql.
in the recovery vault, i just have the option to backup azure vm with sql servers.
your advise is appreciated

Use BACPAC instead of backup. For MI you can do a backup using COPY_ONLY, but you won't be able to restore it in an on-prem SQL Sever.
i will be able to restore it on an azure sql server? MI or azure vm?
You should be able to restore it on an MI, since they should all be the same version (the latest/"azure" version). But not on a VM, since those versions are the same as we use on-prem.

Please look into this section of the document for understanding more about back up offerings in Azure SQL Managed Instance.
The PaaS version of any Azure SQL DB will have higher version so there will always be a mismatch between PaaS and On Prem/VM SQL Server and restore will not work.

can you just tell me where the backup is stored?
in normal vault backups we set a storage account for the data.
but managing backup on the sql instances is just for configuring the retention policies, there is no action to choose a storage account to store in it the backups.
can you advise on this guys

The back up of the Database happens to the Blob Storage that means it will use a storage account. Here are the two documents explaining workings of a Native Back up and export feature to export the Database Bacpac.
