Uninstalling Webview2 version 111.0.1661.54 on windows 11

Hi all,

I would like to uninstall Webview2 version 111.0.1661.54 and install an older version to allow another app installation. The previous method of uninstalling using setup.exe --uninstall --msedgewebview --system-level --verbose-logging --force-uninstall no longer works.

To uninstall Webview2 version 111.0.1661.54, you can try the following steps:

The recommended solutions have not worked so far, Uninstall option not available for the app install. The provided link doesn't not provide an uninstall software. Please guide. Was it the correct link?

I am having the same issue as Isaac. I am not able to uninstall WebView2 version 111.0.1661.54 on Windows 11. Also, the links provided do not have an uninstaller.

i used iobit uninstaller , the focus feature , then WIN+W and tried to uninstal widgets , it uninstalled the whole webview , i was here to be sure i could uninstall it

hi there i deleted webview the way you recommended and after time..i wanted to instal webview. i downloaded the installer from the given link and instead of installing it says that webview is already installed. but there is no way..i cant find any app called webview..i deleted all stuff related to webview. even after that installer says webview is installed. how can i fix that

There is no uninstall option. The link allows you to redownload it, not uninstall it. Windows doesn't allow the uninstall from control panel any more either.

No. Microsoft was taken to court and lost when they insisted Internet Explorer was an integral part of the operating system.

I see a class action lawsuit in Microsoft's future.

I am seeing the same issue as Isaac. We are not able to uninstall WebView2 111.0.1661.54 from Windows 11 as we normally have been able to. I am not seeing an uninstaller in the link provided either.

The click Uninstall is jive. All that is offered is CHANGE. That gives you an option to repair but not Uninstall. I clicked on that and it REINSTALLED.

Hi,

Edge WebView2 is used by many applications, including Windows Update, Edge Browser, Teams, and Office365.

Here are the steps I followed to resolve my issue:

Step 1:

I followed the instructions here to delete Edge WebView from the registry.

Step 2:

Download and install the WebView2 Runtime directly from Microsoft’s website: Download Link.

The uninstall option should be enabled once you run the downloaded MicrosoftEdgeWebview2Setup.exe.

Hi Isaac,

To uninstall WebView2 version 111.0.1661.54 and install an older version:

Uninstall via Settings: Go to Settings > Apps > Apps & features, find Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime, and click Uninstall.

Use Command Line: Try running the command as an admin if the setup.exe command doesn’t work:
setup.exe --uninstall --msedgewebview --system-level --verbose-logging --force-uninstall

Clean Up Residual Files: Check and delete any leftover folders in:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\EdgeWebView

C:\Program Files\Microsoft\EdgeWebView

Install Older Version: Download the older version from the WebView2 archive and install it.
