"Unable to retrieve the azure active directory configuration"

Question

I was going through disabling old account within my on-premise AD and I think I accidentally deleted the account that had previous been used to link our on-premise and Azure AD. Fine - I'll go ahead and connect with an account that should be active anyways. While trying to connect to Azure AD, I receive the following message "Unable to retrieve the Azure Active Directory configuration." No other information. Attached is an image.

Howdy All,

Mine stopped syncing a few days ago as well. Turned out I was still using a now retired version of AADConnect.

Sign in to your "entra.microsoft . com" portal, https://entra.microsoft.com/#view/Microsoft_AAD_Connect_Provisioning/AADConnectMenuBlade/~/GetStarted

Then click Manage:

From there, download the Connect Sync Agent and run that on your AADSync server. It will do some automated updating after nexting threw a few screens. When prompted, sign in with your 365 admin creds and you should be syncing again.

Hope that helps - as it resolved my issue this AM.
