Currently, I have a ubuntu vm (normal vm) in Azure .
Can I this vm promote to DSVM ?

Just only, create a new DSVM or manually install tools and configure them?

Thanks in advance.

Hi, thanks for reaching out. If I understand clearly, you want to know if you can use a regular VM for data science projects instead of DSVM? Or convert a regular VM to DSVM? Well, you can use a regular VM for data science projects, however, you'll have to configure the VM and install various data science tools. The benefit of DSVM is that it already comes pre-configured and has many popular data science tools preinstalled to help jump-start building intelligent applications for advanced analytics. Based on my understanding, there's no way to convert regular VM to DSVM, you'll have to create a DSVM resource. Hope this helps.

@Anonymous , following up. If you want an ARM template for the Ubuntu 16.04 DSVM, please checkout this resource. Hope this helps. Thanks!
