How do I force Microsoft Teams (PWA) 2.0 on Linux?

I got it working for only couple of my computers/web browsers, but I can't seem to force it.

I created a policy that sets

  • "Show Teams preview features" as "on for everyone"
  • "Use new Teams client" as "New Teams by default"

I confirmed my user's update policy has been set as that, but it doesn't seem to be working.

The ones that are on Teams 2.0:

  • Microsoft Edge (Flatpak) on KDE Neon (Ubuntu)
  • Microsoft Edge on M1 Max Macbook Pro

The ones on Classic:

  • Microsoft Edge (Flatpak) on Kubuntu 22.10
  • Microsoft Edge (Flatpak) on Rocky Linux 9
  • Brave (Snap) on Kubuntu 22.10

When the native Teams app for Linux was discontinued, I created a separate Chrome profile and installed the PWA, because Firefox was incomatible in some features and the PWA just starts like an app with no browser toolbars etc.

Now I got to know there is a new version: https://teams.microsoft.com/v2/

Uninstalling the PWA, cleaning my profile, going to https://teams.microsoft.com/ also offers the migration to the new version. It starts in the browser tab. But I don't see any way to install that as PWA. Then I read that PWA will be discontinued, which does not match the information here.

Will there be a PWA for that version V2 for usage in Chrome on Linux?

    Hi @Jonas Gamao

According to documentation, more specific dates and details for Firefox, Safari, and PWA on Linux are still not available yet.

Progressive Web Applications (PWA) on Linux will be supported roughly in the first quarter of 2024, so please be patient.
