Azure Update Manager - Overview Scheduled Updates next runtime

Migrating from Azure Automation Account Update Management to Azure Update Manager I realized that I can't find an overview with all next runtimes.

In the Azure Automation Account within Update Management it was possible to display Deployment schedules with the next run time.

Where do I have such a view in the new Azure Update Manager?

And on the Automation Account it was possible to get the Schedules with Powershell using Get-AzAutomationSchedule
I can't find a similar option for Azure Update Management scheduled Configurations?

Hi ,

In Azure Update Management, you can view upcoming update deployments and schedules by navigating to the Update Management blade in the Azure portal. Here's how you can find the next run times:

Navigate to Update Management: Go to the Azure portal and search for "Update Management" in the search bar. Click on the Update Management service to open the blade.

View Update Deployments: Within the Update Management blade, you should see a list of your managed machines or virtual machines. Click on the specific machine you're interested in to view its update deployment details.

Next Run Time: In the update deployment details for the selected machine, you should be able to see information about the next scheduled run time for updates. This will typically include the date and time when the next deployment is scheduled to occur.

Unfortunately, Azure Update Management doesn't provide a direct equivalent to Get-AzAutomationSchedule cmdlet for retrieving schedules programmatically. However, you can still manage schedules and deployments programmatically using Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates or Azure PowerShell cmdlets.

To programmatically retrieve information about update deployments and schedules in Azure Update Management, you can use Azure PowerShell cmdlets such as Get-AzAutomationSoftwareUpdateConfiguration, Get-AzAutomationSoftwareUpdateConfigurationDeployment, and Get-AzAutomationSoftwareUpdateConfigurationSoftwareUpdateConfigurationRun. These cmdlets allow you to query update configurations, deployment statuses, and run history, which can give you insights into the scheduled update runs and their outcomes.

Here's an example of how you can use Azure PowerShell to retrieve information about update configurations:

# Connect to your Azure account Connect-AzAccount # Get update configurations $updateConfigurations = Get-AzAutomationSoftwareUpdateConfiguration -ResourceGroupName "YourResourceGroup" -AutomationAccountName "YourAutomationAccount" # Display update configurations $updateConfigurations

Similarly, you can use other cmdlets to retrieve deployment information and run history. Refer to the Azure PowerShell documentation for more details on how to use these cmdlets:

I can select each VM and from there the assigned scheduler is visible thats true. But there I can't see the date and time of the effective next runtime and I don't have an overview with all next runtimes.. compared to the Automation account.

The Get-AzAutomationSoftwareUpdateConfiguration cmdlets you are refering to are for the Automation Account. They are not working for the new Azure Update Manager..

Yes I think there isn't a built-in feature within Azure Update Manager to directly display this information for individual VMs, we can use Azure CLI or PowerShell scripts

Good answer, but seriously? Did nobody think this was not going to be a problem? This makes it very hard to gate things.

@Nathanael Santschi As far as I know, you will be not able to retrieve next runtimes within Azure Update Manager. To retrieve the schedule associated with the maintenance configurations, you can use Get-AzMaintenanceConfiguration PowerShell command.
