Hi All,

Hope you are well.

We are experiencing issues with the Windows update. It keeps updating, installing, asking us to restart, after the restart, again it asks to update the windows.

This loop keeps going through.

Issue occurs with this security update: KB5036892

How long we are experiencing: 2 months (approximately)

How many users reported so far: 25

Any specific device manufacturers: Lenovo & Dell

Any Specific OS platform: Occurs with2_Windows_Update_Issue

Windows 10 devices. but I'll investigate this internally

How patching is configured: Through Intune Windows Update Ring

Steps that we have tried:-

  1. Restarted multiple times.
  2. Ran SFC /SCANNOW
  3. Stopped Windows Update, Cryptographic, Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS),& Windows Installer Service and restarted the same services
  4. Rename / Deleted Software Distribution folder & Restart the laptops.
  5. Ran Windows update troubleshooter
  6. Tried to install KB manually
  7. Ran chkdsk /F /R /X /B /scan /offlinescanandfix
  8. Ran DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
  9. Downloaded Windows Update Assistant, ran and ensured that

"Windows is up to date".

But the issue remains the same. Can you help in resolving the issue?

I finally found a solution, an old program (2021) from Micro$oft itself that allows you to hide problematic updates, works on Windows 11 too (KB5036893).

    http://download.microsoft.com/download/F/2/2/F22D5FDB-59CD-4275-8C95-1BE17BF70B21/wushowhide.diagcab

EDIT: Even though the update was hidden, the computers tried to reinstall the update again. :(
