Hello Azure Support Team,

I hope this message finds you well. I am currently facing a scenario where I need to migrate several azure resources, including App Services and databases, from one subscription in our current Azure tenant to another subscription in a different tenant. I would greatly appreciate your guidance on the best approach to achieve this migration while minimizing any potential impact on our services.

Questions:

  1. What is the recommended process for transferring these resources across tenants?
  2. Are there any specific steps or precautions we should take to ensure a smooth migration?

Thank you for your assistance. We look forward to your expert guidance.

    Hello JanakKhadka,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A and thank you for posting your questions here.

    Problem

I understand that you would like to migrate several Azure resources, including App Services and databases, from one subscription in your current Azure tenant to another subscription in a different tenant. This migration must be executed with minimal impact on your services.

    Scenario

This is your unique business story. You're in charge of Azure resources in one Azure account and want to move them to another account in a different Azure setup. These resources, like App Services and databases, are super important for your work. Making sure everything moves smoothly without messing up your services is really important. You're looking for advice on how to do this transfer between different Azure setups and what steps to take to make sure it goes well.

    Solution

This prescribed solution was based on the scenario given and your questions, while focusing on the problem statement.

    Your first question:

What is the recommended process for transferring these resources across tenants?

There are steps involved in the migration process, which includes tools and methods to facilitate the migration. Azure Migrate is what should come to the mind first. You can navigate and read more on how Azure Migrate can help. On the links below you will find more links to what you want to achieve.

From the additional resources, you can read the documentation about: how to transition existing Azure environments with a single subscription with no management groups into the Azure landing zone conceptual architecture. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/cloud-adoption-framework/ready/landing-zone/align-scenario-single-subscription?source=recommendations

    Finally

    Your second question:

Are there any specific steps or precautions we should take to ensure a smooth migration?

Yes, there at least three steps to put into consideration when you would like to perform this kind of migration:

    • Pre-migration planning and preparation.

    Potential risks and mitigation strategies.

    Post-migration validation and verification tasks.

You can find all the links that guide you through in the below resources listed in the reference.
