Hi,

I was patching windows server via AZUR update manager. All servers has been patched successfully but one server update failed when checked on the server 2 patches were installed out of 3. KB5039705 failed to install. I have tried to install it manually and using PowerShell but no luck showing the below error.

There were problems installing some updates, but we'll try again later.

2024-05 Cumulative Update for Windows Server 2019 (1809) for x64-based Systems (KB5039705) - Error 0x8007371b

I have investigated the issue and tried multiple ways to resolve the issue but no luck.

Method 1: Use the Windows Update Troubleshooter

Method 2: Run the SFC and DISM Scans

Method 3: Clear the Windows Update Cache Folder

Method 4: Reset Windows Update Components

OS: Windows Server 2019 Standard

KB890830 and KB5038283 were installed successfully, KB5039705 failed to install.

Please suggest how can I resolve the issue. snap1.PNGsnap.PNG

I've also seen the Error 0x8007371b problems with the out-of-band KB5039705 update on some Windows 10 LTSC 2019 systems as well, so the problem is not limited to just with Server 2019 systems alone.

check the contents of the CBS.log and any CbsPersist*_.log files stored in the \Windows\Logs\CBS folder, view them in Notepad and search for something like "STATUS_SXS_TRANSACTION_CLOSURE_INCOMPLETE" and referencing the edgehtmlpolicy.bin file. if that's the case, follow the instructions from Günter Born's blog on restoring a crucial file onto the \Windows\WinSxS folder & add the necessary registry entries to that specific file, and then retry the KB5039705 update.

Nur sure, if it helps - I've compiled something about Error 0x8007371b in citrix environments within my blog - maybe it solve also your issue.

The issue has been resolved. KB5039705 installed successfully.

    Run sfc /scannow

Copy the missing file in folder C:\Windows\WinSxS. Then set the permission accordingly. and change the registry value (Set default value 1).

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SideBySide\Winners\amd64_microsoft-Windows-w..formplugins* (missing file)

And run the system repair for Windows 2019

    DISM /cleanup-image /online /scanhealth

    DISM /cleanup-image /online /checkhealth

    DISM /cleanup-image /online /analyzecomponentstore

    DISM /cleanup-image /online /startcomponentcleanup /resetbase
