Environment logs not available

Azure ML environments are built by jobs running in the prepare_image experiment. In those jobs build logs are available. However, when browsing environment assets/registry, there is no information about the job ID that created the environment. This means that in terms of lineage it's practically impossible to find builds logs of a particular environment version once there are multiple environments built. Nor are job names informative as to which environment is bein built.

There is clearly a need to expose a link between environment and jobs that built them.

@Sajko Miha I can see the build log providing the job id in the logs along with the link to the run id as seen below.

If i lookup the job id in my jobs, it provides the job and its logs.

I do see that options are available to add tags to the environment, but they are not passed onto the job that prepares the environment. This might help for better tracking if you have multiple versions. Can you pass this feedback to the team through this github issue form?

For me this log is only transient and available from this view when the environment is being built. Once it's built, it's gone. Then I have this:

@Sajko Miha I see your screenshot does not have "Build Log" file. I am not sure if this is part of a preview feature that enables to view and track jobs. Try to enable all preview features from the top right hand corner and relogin to check if it displays the additional file.

I think you should enable this feature or all depending on your requirements.

@romungi-MSFT we have all preview features enabled. Do you still see the build log in the environments view once the build job completed? For us it disappears at that point. In case it matters, our workspace is secured behind a vnet.

@Sajko Miha I can see it after the build too. I am not sure if the workspace behind vnet might cause this but you can raise a support case to check why this is happening with your subscription and workspace. Thanks!!
