I have always connected to our server via Remote Desktop.

Since I updated the App, I cannot connect to Remote Desktop via on my iPad, via 4G (cellular). It works on WiFi but this is no use to me as I always use 4G when I am away from the office.

Why has it stopped working?

    Hello,

When you connect to your PC by using a Remote Desktop client, you're creating a peer-to-peer connection. This means you need direct access to the PC (sometimes called "the host"). If you need to connect to your PC from outside of the network your PC is running on, you need to enable that access. Do you have an RD Gateway deployed, or are you utilizing port forwarding or a VPN?

If you are using the gateway, remember to set it up: Connect to an RD Gateway to access internal assets.

A Remote Desktop Gateway (RD Gateway) lets you connect to a remote computer on a corporate network from anywhere on the Internet. You can create and manage your gateways using the Remote Desktop client.

To set up a new gateway:

    1. In the Connection Center, tap Settings > Gateways.
    2. Tap Add gateway.
    3. Enter the following information:
    • Gateway name – The name of the computer you want to use as a gateway. The gateway name can be a Windows computer name, an Internet domain name, or an IP address. You can also add port information to the server name (for example, RDGateway:443 or 10.0.0.1:443).
      • User name - The user name and password to be used for the Remote Desktop gateway you're connecting to. You can also select Use connection credentials to use the same user name and password that you used for the remote desktop connection.

Are there any error messages displayed when you attempt to connect via 4G? If so, could you please provide the exact error message?

The latest version of the Remote Desktop client for iPadOS is 10.5.8. Are there any other users who have updated the app and encountered similar issues with 4G connectivity?

Have you tried using another iPad or a different mobile device with the updated Remote Desktop app to connect to the server via 4G? This can help us determine if the issue lies with your current iPad or the app's compatibility with your device's cellular connection.
