Hello,
as many Microsoft customer I received the mail about the scheduled migration from Single to Flexible MySQL Server.
Does the migration from a Single 5.7 do also the upgrade to MySQL 8.0 ?

No Version upgrade and migration are two separate activities, can you share more information about the mail you have received?

The mail says:
"Subject: Upcoming Azure Database for MySQL - Single Server in-place migration to Flexible Server
Title: Action required: Review migration details for Azure Database for MySQL Single Server to Flexible Server

This will be an Online migration where you will see downtime of up-to 5 minutes or less. The in-place migration will copy all single server properties, including firewall rules and server parameters, to an appropriately configured flexible server target and ensure that your existing clients and applications can connect to the migrated flexible server with the same connection string post-migration. Additionally, both username formats – username@server_name and username will be supported on the migrated Flexible Server.

As you can see from the screenshot the server seems ready to be migrated to a Flexible Server instance...but what about the MySQL version upgrade ?

you're right.
Perhaps I found the answer.
The migration doesn't upgrade the mysql, it has to be done after.
I was missing that the support for 5.7 has been extended till September 2025 for Flexible Server
