How to set up a remote desktop which can be used my multiple people simultaneously?

I work at a company where all of our work is done through remote desktops. The biggest drawback, however, is that only 1 person can use the remote desktop at a time. So everyone else can only sit idle and wait for their turn, and this really exacerbates each employee's efficiency and deliveries. Is there any way we can have multiple people accessing the remote desktop, and doing their respective work?

To set up multi-user remote desktop connections, press Windows + R on your computer to bring up the Run window, enter "gpedit.msc", and then click "OK".

1. In the Group Policy Editor, expand "Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Remote Desktop Services > Remote Desktop Session Host > Connections" and double-click "Restrict Remote Desktop Services users to a single Remote Desktop Services session". Set this option to "Disabled".

2. Double-click the "Limit the number of connections" option and set it to "Enabled". You can set the number of connections as needed and then save.

You tagged this question for "Windows 10". For that OS, you are correct, it only allows 1 active RDP connection. For multiple connections, you would need to install a Server version of Windows and implement Remote Desktop Services (Terminal Server).

I would recommend that you hire a consulting service that has experience with RDS and desktop virtualization. There are many things to consider such as the applications being run and your network configuration.

If you don't want to (can't) implement a Server OS, then just go buy a few more Win10 pc's, and have a pool of pc's that users can connect to.
