What is SKU family?

Hi,

upon reviewing our Application Gateways I saw the following in the ARM template exported from the portal:

"sku": {
	"name": "WAF_v2",
	"tier": "WAF_v2",
	"family": "Generation_1"
},

I got really confused by the last row. I thought that the WAF_v2 SKU is part of the Generation 2 family of SKUs since it has the improved performance etc. But it clearly says we have family generation 1. I thought we would not need to upgrade and were already running the latest version, and sure we do not get any recommendations to upgrade. But still, it says our SKU is in the family 1 generation. Could someone please clarify?

Thank you for your patience here. I got a response back from the team.

The SKU family value is specific to Azure Application Gateway V1 SKU only and it is not related to Application Gateway V2 SKU.

I understand the SKU family parameter in WAF_v2 SKU is confusing and I have requested the team to remove the reference.
