Formatting and appearance of font changed on word for macbook

I have been editing a word document for the last few weeks, when I opened it yesterday the font now appears different (says the font is still spectral but it looks different) and all the spacing in the document has changed. No improvement even after redownloading 2016 word.
Looks normal and the way it should on my iphone microsoft word app.

Charles Kenyon 3,121 Reputation points Volunteer Moderator2024-06-13T21:13:53.46+00:00 I would never be creating/editing important documents in any of the browser or mobile Word programs. To me, those are simply for viewing and perhaps printing. I also will use to take notes.
These programs are different programs even if all called "Word" and distributed by Microsoft.
I take it you are talking about how this looks in your Mac desktop application?
Probably a silly question, but are you sure that you have the font installed on your Mac?
Word will show the original font name in the program as being what is being used, but if the font is not installed, it will actually be substituting something else.
