Ram Welcome to Microsoft Q&A! Thanks for posting the question.
I have deleted resource group directly, which I hoped removes the underlying resources and deployments. I don't see the deployments or resources any longer, but see costs incurred even after a day. Please let me know how do i find and stop the deployment/resources?
If you have deleted the resource group in Azure that are still showing up in your cost analysis, it's possible that the data for those resource groups has not yet been fully processed by Azure Cost Management and Billing. It can take up to 24 hours for the data to be fully processed and for the deleted resource groups to be removed from your cost analysis.
If it has been more than 24 hours since you deleted the resource groups and they are still showing up in your cost analysis, you can try the following steps:
Goto Cost Management in Azure Portal and check Cost analysis based on the resources.
Check the date range of the cost analysis. Make sure that the date range of the cost analysis includes the time period during which the resource groups were deleted. If the date range is set to a time period before the resource groups were deleted, they will still show up in the cost analysis.
Cost Management data only includes the usage and purchases from services and resources that are actively running. The cost data you see is based on past records. It includes resources, resource groups, and subscriptions that might be stopped, deleted, or canceled. So, it might not match with the current resources, resource groups, and subscriptions you see in tools like Azure Resource Manager or Azure Resource Graph.
They only display currently deployed resources in your subscriptions. Not all resources emit usage and therefore might not be represented in the cost data. Similarly, Azure Resource Manager doesn't track some resources so they might not be represented in subscription resources.
Please see Understand Cost Management data for more information.
Also, If the deleted resource groups are still showing up in your cost analysis after 24 hours and the above steps did not resolve the issue, Create a free billing Azure support request.
Do let me know if that helps or have any other queries.
