I received a bill after I canceled my subscription that was supposed to cost me nothing.

This is the second month that I have received a bill by email from Microsoft since I put a website online with Azure. I did it as part of a school project, and my teacher assured me that if I put the site online with my credit card, it wouldn't cost anything. Last month, I received a bill of over $200.

So I decided to cancel the subscription and contact the school, which did not respond.

And yesterday, I received a bill from Microsoft for just under $80, even though the site is no longer online.

    Hello Justin Gélinas,

    Thanks for your question.

I will recommend you first review if any resources are still running:

    • Log in to the Azure Portal.
    • Go to the "Cost Management + Billing" section.
    • Check for any active resources or services that might still be running.

Also, Go to Subscriptions in the Azure Portal and verify if it is cancelled.

For the billing issue, I will recommend you reach out to the support team. You can call global customer service - https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/topic/global-customer-service-phone-numbers-c0389ade-5640-e588-8b0e-28de8afeb3f2 to help you connect with Azure billing and subscription management support.

You can mark it 'Accept Answer' and 'Upvote' if this helped you

    Regards,

    Abiola

    Hi Justin Gélinas,

Thank you for reaching out to us on the Microsoft Q&A forum.

We apologize for the inconvenience you're facing with unexpected bills from Microsoft Azure.

In addition to @ akinbade abiola, if you cancel your Azure subscription, you might still receive a bill if there are active resources or services that are still billing you.

Even if your website is offline, other Azure resources like storage accounts, databases, or virtual machines may still be active and accruing costs.

If you don't find any active resources or services, check your recurring charges for any listed items. If you're unsure, I recommend creating a support ticket with Azure to investigate further.

You can create a support request here: https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/support/create-ticket/.

Azure, Billing and Subscription Management support is included in the Basic Support Plan without any charge. https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/support/plans/

If the information is helpful, please consider by clicking the "Accept Answer and Upvote" on the post.

If you are still facing the issue, please let us know in the comments. We are happy to help you.

    Thank you.
