Hi All,

Have a good day! I had an issue on one of my clients on their Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD). (pls refer on screenshot). When clicking on 'Widows Search' bar nothing happens and keep on running one line.

Please advise if anything i need to check and i really appreciate if any conclusion/solution might have to resolve this issue.

    Hi Rommel D. Ortilla,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A Platform! Thank you for asking your question here.

We understand from your query that you are experiencing an issue with the Windows Search Bar in Azure Virtual Desktop.

Make sure your AVD host VM has the latest cumulative updates installed. After updating, restart the VM to ensure all changes take effect.

Still, you are facing same issue I would suggest you delete the FSLogix profile of the affected user after the update and before he logs in the first time after the update.

If you have any further queries, do let us know.

    Hi Nikhil Duserla,

Thanks for your replied on this query. By the way, we had 1-AVD(Win11) which is sharing by multiple users. So, all the users had an issue when do type in or using the 'Windows Search' bar (as shown in screenshot) which is not working. The FSLogix is on latest update. The 'Windows Search' bar is working as normal when I'm login as administrator.

I try some initial troubleshooting (restart windows search- services.msc, indexing, etc.) but the 'Windows Search' bar still not working.

The conclusion should be on roaming profile via FSLogix? Azure Conditional Access? I have no idea at this time.

    Thanks

    Hi Nikhil Duserla,

Thanks for your replied on this query. By the way, we had 1-AVD(Win11) which is sharing by multiple users.

So, all the users had an issue when do type in or using the 'Windows Search' bar (as shown in a previous screenshot) which is not working. You can be able to type-in on the 'Windows Search' bar but not appear as normal (it just shows running yellow line).

The 'Windows Search' bar is working when I'm login as Administrator. So, it's meaning the issue on roaming profile? or Azure profile settings, Conditional Access, or anything from previous creation?

I've tried some initial troubleshooting (restart windows search from services, indexing, etc.) but not working as well.

    Best Regards,

    Rommel

    Hello,

Thank you for posting in Q&A forum.

Based on the information provided , here are some additional suggestions to help resolve the issue with the Windows Search Bar in Azure Virtual Desktop:

    1. Update the Azure AD Domain Services (AD DS) and Azure Virtual Desktop host pool: Ensure that the Active Directory Domain Services and the host pool have the latest updates installed, as this can sometimes address issues with applications.
    2. Check the User Profile Configuration: Verify that the user's profile is correctly configured, and there are no conflicts or issues with the FSLogix Profile Management. If you haven't already, consider enabling the "Reset Profile" option in FSLogix to start with a clean slate.
    3. Enable Diagnostics and Troubleshooting: Enable diagnostic settings on the host VM to collect logs related to the search service. This can help identify any underlying issues. You can find instructions on how to enable diagnostics in the Azure Virtual Desktop documentation.
    4. Review Event Viewer: Analyze the System and Application event logs on the host VM for any error messages or warnings that could be related to the search bar problem.

    Best Regards,

    Yanhong Liu
