We are currently experiencing an issue with our WSUS configuration where updates are no longer showing up for our clients since Microsoft ended support for Windows 10 version 21H2. However, our clients are using Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021, which should continue receiving updates due to its long-term service agreement.

For example, in June 2024, we received the following updates:

  • 2024-06 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 21H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5039211)
  • Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool x64 - v5.125 (KB890830)

Typically, these quality and security updates are released within the first two weeks of the month. Currently, when our clients request updates from WSUS, quality updates no longer appear in the updates to approve list.

Could you please advise if there is any new configuration needed on WSUS or any steps we need to follow to resolve this issue? It is crucial for us to ensure that our clients remain up-to-date with the latest updates.

Thank you for your assistance.

After some troubleshooting, I found a solution that worked out which is to Include Windows 10 LTSB in WSUS Products. To do that,

    • Open the WSUS Administration Console.
    • Go to Options > Products and Classifications.
    • Under the Products tab, scroll down and select Windows 10 LTSB.
    • Click OK to save the changes.

By doing this, your WSUS server will be able to recognize and manage updates for Windows 10 under the long-term servicing agreement, including the 2021 LTSC version.

I realized this when I searched for the latest updates for "Windows 10 version 21H2" on the Microsoft Update Catalog and noticed that the July updates appeared under the product Windows 10 LTSB (see attached screenshot).

Hope this helps anyone facing a similar issue!

    Hello,

Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021 doesn't reach the end of life, and you should still receive new updates.

We recommend that you refer to this link for troubleshooting:
