How to completely disable SMB in Windows 11

I have a QNAP NAS that I've been connected to via SMB at some point in the past. I later removed those SMB connections to the NAS, but at some point my NAS started blocking the IP of my PC because it was still sending login requests via SMB using my Windows account, and those login requests were failing. I could not get the requests to stop, so I decided to disable SMB in my Windows. I disabled SMB v1, v2, v3 and SMB Direct and still my PC is sending SMB requests to the NAS. So the NAS is still blocking my PC IP every few minutes.

I can see in my PC resource monitor that the process System is sending requests to the NAS. I have also Wireshark installed and I still see the SMB2 requests happening.

How can I make sure that my PC stops sending those requests?

I've contacted QNAP support and they are not able to find a solution, any help would be appreciated.

    Hello,

Use the method in the official documentation below to disable SMB.

How to detect, enable and disable SMBv1, SMBv2, and SMBv3 in Windows | Microsoft Learn

If the above methods do not work, try to disable UDP port 137, 138 and TCP port 139, 445 in the Windows firewall.
