Hi there,

I have an issue with Windows 11. if I use shift + s to produce a capital/uppercase letter nothing happens, no output from the keyboard.

This is NOT a hardware issue, I have tried multiple keyboards including the OsK.

I recently upgraded form windows 10 and never had this problem before.

I have tried as many software base fixes that I could find including:

Turning off sticky keys and associated setting. They were already off, but I toggled them anyway.
I did re install my keyboard drivers despite knowing that would not fix the issue.

I have tried various diagnostics including:

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
sfc /scannow

No of which found any issues.

Troubleshooting keyboards is no longer available in windows 11, so that's out.

I'm at my wits end so I turn to you, please if you can help, I'd be truly grateful.

Regards

Andy

    Hi Andy,

Thanks for your post. Based on my research, please try the following methods to narrow down the issue.

1.Try the on-screen keyboard and see if it persists.

2.Locate to the settings- type keyboard and select all the options to test again.

    3.Updating Keyboard Drivers and Software

    Operating System Updates:

Keep your operating system current by installing the latest updates the manufacturer provides.

Operating system updates often include bug fixes and improvements that can address compatibility issues with keyboards and other hardware devices.

    Keyboard Manufacturer Software:

Some keyboard manufacturers provide dedicated software for their products.

Check the manufacturer’s website for any available software updates or utility programs specific to your keyboard model.

These updates can enhance the performance and functionality of your keyboard, including the shift key’s ability to produce symbols.

    Best Regards,

    Ian Xue
