Like to review records incorrectly entered in the database

We have a database where we enter a record with a number with an alphanumeric suffix. But the software entered it incorrectly due to an algorithm issue which we are trying to fix now but past transactions need to be fixed in the database. If I know the rule says be x+12 for a suffix but just did x could we say the current column does not match what should be? The base number (prefix) is in the database in an independent record as a backup.

That helps a lot to clarify your description.

2024-09-25T20:57:52.37+00:00 My developer just wrote a query where a substring had a certain character to show up in the report as there is an acceptable range. If not in the range of those characters then we had to do an update.
