vs_BuildTools.exe installation crashes without error message

Question

I am new to Visual Studio and C++ but need to install Visual Studio Build Tools. When I open "vs_BuildTools.exe", it gets very close to finishing its installation, but then it crashes without any error message. I have already tried a reboot. Can someone help? Thanks,

Do you mean that the installation crashes immediately when running the .exe file? Is it the Build Tools for Visual Studio 2022? 

Please try the following workarounds:

1. If you have any anti-virus software or group policy, please temporarily disable it. Or refer to the document and add domain URLs to an allowlist.
2. Check for Windows Update.
3. Go to Visual Studio Installer folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\Installer, and run the vs_installershell.exe file.
4. Re-download the Build Tools for Visual Studio 2022 from the page and move the .exe file to a clean folder in another drive.
5. Put the .exe file in root of C drive like C:\setup.exe and run it as administrator.
