Resize Excel chart object in Word greyed out

Hi, I have an Excel chart object in a Word table (2016 versions) and I can easily open it to update the data and change the format/colours etc on the chart. However the chart is too big but when I go to change width and height the options are greyed out, plus the drag handles don't work. Has anyone else had this problem and is there a workaround? I have screenshots to explain things better

    Hi,

How did you insert the Chart?

What kind of Chart did you create?

Can you drag the Chart in Word to change the layout size directly?

I suggest you create a new Chart and check if this problem appear in specific file or Office application

If this Chart is open from a Workbook, please check if the Chart is grouped in the Workbook.

Hi there I was going about this all wrong - all i needed to do was go to Insert - Illustrations - Chart, and then I can edit the data and change size of graph.

Thanks for getting me to think about this a bit more!
