oauth2 and outlook with pop,smpt

Question

I received an email indicating that oauth2 'maybe' required for my connection to the outlook.com email account. Outlook 2021 does not seem to have that setting and there is no clear answer from microsoft on setting it up. I use POP connection because I am required to keep a local copy of all email. How is this to be setup using office professional 2021 Outlook?

Based on my research, i found a thread mentioned that:

It's suggested that you could create a new Outlook Desktop profile(Control Panel>Mail>Show Profiles>add) and then add your Outlook.com account using automatic account configuration.
