Azure AD Authentication with MS Authenticator App Issues

Is the Microsoft Authenticator app required on an iPhone X to authenticate with Azure cloud? The Authenticator app does not display a code when trying to verify sign-ins for the Azure app, nor the Outlook app, or nor the Teams app. Instead, it prompts to "Set up 2-step verification" and indicates that a QR code is needed or a manual entry. Since this is a personal account, where can the QR code be obtained? Is there something that may have been overlooked? Thanks in advanced.1

Yes, the Microsoft Authenticator app is required to authenticate with Azure cloud on an iPhone X. The app provides an additional level of security to your Microsoft work or school account or your Microsoft account.

Regarding the issue you are facing, it sounds like you may not have set up two-step verification for your personal account. To set up two-step verification, you can follow these steps:

Go to the Microsoft account security page.
Sign in with your Microsoft account and click on Two-step verification
Select Manage for two step verification
Follow the prompts to set up two-step verification. You will be prompted to choose a method for receiving verification codes, such as through the Microsoft Authenticator app or via text message.

Once you have set up two-step verification, you should be able to use the Microsoft Authenticator app to verify sign-ins for the Azure app, Outlook app, and Teams app.

I have the same problem, and this solution DOES NOT WORK because in order to sign into the web account to set up 2 factor authentication, IT REQUIRE THAT I USE

"Approve a request on my Microsoft Authenticator app" WHICH IS WHAT I AM TRYING TO SET UP!!!

Or, "Use a verification code" -- which it does not send me and which the iphone app does not provide.

Based on the screenshots and information you provided, it appears that you are not being prompted for Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), nor are you receiving the verification code required to access the Azure portal.

I recommend reaching out to the portal admin or Global Administrator who added you as a user to the Azure account. The Global Admin can re-register MFA for your account, which should resolve the issue and allow you to proceed with the MFA prompt and verification process when accessing the portal.
