iOS Outlook cannot send attachment

We have on-prem Excange Server 2019, and recently we are not able to send an email with attachments.

The error we receive is:

"EasSendFailedPermanentException: An EAS Send command failed: The EAS command failed with Status MailSubmissionFailed, Code ='120' and HttpStatus OK. --> The EAS command failed with Status MailSubmissionFailed, Code ='120' and HttpStatus OK.

Failure code: 4650"

Please advise.

We have multiple clients with the same issue. Exchange Server 2019 using the Outlook app on iPhones does not send attachments.

Regardless of size, file type or the method you use to add the attachments. The message goes into the sent items but when you refresh, it disappears and the email with an attachment is not sent. The Apple Mail app does not have this issue only the Outlook app.

This is definitely a bug fix for Microsoft.

According to your description, you are experiencing the problem of not being able to send mail with attachments in Outlook. You can try the following steps for some troubleshooting:

Make sure the file type of the attachment you are trying to upload is supported by Outlook. You can try whether this error occurs for all types of attachments or only for a specific attachment?
You need to verify whether the size of the attachment is within the range allowed by Outlook. If the attachment exceeds a certain size limit, the sending of the email with the attachment can be blocked.
If you try to send an email with an attachment in OWA, do you receive the same error message.
Try to delete the app on your device and reinstall the latest version of the program. Sometimes, different program versions can also have an impact.

I have done all of 4 you suggested, as I have seen something like this before, but none of them fixes it. It happens with many phones, either iOS or Android, and we have tried numerous types of attachments. At the same time, I have tried sending the same email with same attachments from Gmail app on iOS, and it works fine. The destination does not matter, it is just occurring with iOS Outlook app.

And this used to work before, and we have not changed our Exchange settings, we are not using Intune, only ActiveSync.

You can try to reset the account on the device through Applications > Settings > Select Email Account > Reset Account and check the result to see if the problem still exists.

If it still exists and the outlook version is the latest, you can check what your IOS version is. If it can be updated, it is recommended that you try it again after updating.

I reset the account, but the same issue. ( I removed Outlook and redownloaded it, so it is the latest Outlook, and very new account anyway. )

My iOS version is 18.0.1.

But still having the same exact issue.

Thank you very much for your reply. This may be affected by the iOS version. You can try to fix it by following the steps below:

First, please try to clean up unnecessary emails in your mailbox, and then send emails with attachments to see if this problem can be solved.

Repair Outlook through iOS:

Open Personal Settings on iPhone Apps>Apps>Mail>Mail Accounts>[Your Email Account], tap Account Settings>Advanced, find the IMAP Path Prefix field and enter / or INBOX.

After saving, select Personal Settings>Common Profile>Background App Refresh, and turn on Background App Refresh.

Clear Outlook cache and data, open Personal Settings>Outlook>Reset Cache. Open Outlook and the app will get new data from the server. Then re-add the account.

Try to reset network settings, go to Personal Settings>Common Profile>Transfer or Reset iPhone, select Reset>Reset Network Settings.

From OWA after switching from primary mailbox to another is ok, but we need to use our Phones with shared mailboxes.

Same issue and did all of the above. This is something Microsoft needs to resolve. It only happens with the Outlook App and sending images - not matter what format you use, no matter what method you use to attach the images, it doesn't send. It goes into the sent items, then disappears after a minute and the email is never sent.

Other attachments for example Excel, Word etc. are fine. It's images that don't work.

This is a bug fix for Microsoft

For me similar problem. Android phone, e-mail contains simple text ("test") in subject and body.

Get same error.
