while IOS has builtin pdf support, android does not. typically you would use a javascript pdf viewer hosted in the webview.

iOS is displaying pdf but android WebView does nothing.
I want to open a pdf from a web resource on WebView. But the WebView does not render the pdf. On the other hand the webpages are displayed on WebView without any problem.

As Bruce mentioned, Android's native WebView does not support direct viewing of PDFs. You can refer to the detailed steps in this thread on how to set up Android Webivew to view PDFs.

Actually we have pdf link may be they are not public url link.
Is there anyway other ways i can try to open pdf links?
Also in future, is there any possibility for android Webview to support pdf rendering?

2025-01-09T22:15:33.68+00:00 Apple has a long history of supporting pdf and has all the licenses and code required. Google would need to add pdf support to android web views. The Firefox team wrote the javascript pdf viewer to support PDF with Firefox, but Google has not shown much interest.
