Hi all,

Is there a way to not send Sharepoint permissions request to external users? Our client is requesting for their external users to not receive a permissions request but still access the Teams files. This is what they are currently receiving and they are requesting that this does not get sent.Sharepoint Permissions request

    Hi @Greg Meyer,

Thanks for reaching out to us. We are very pleased to assist you.

Based on the image you provided, your external users are experiencing the Consent experience for the guest prompt.

When external users access SharePoint Online for the first time, they see a consent screen asking them to allow the organization to:

    • Receive their profile data
    • Collect and log their activity
    • Use their profile data and activity data

This consent screen is a standard security measure to ensure that the organization can manage and monitor access appropriately. It helps maintain security and compliance by ensuring that external users are aware of and agree to the data collection policies.

This is the expected behavior of SharePoint, and we cannot disable it. There are two main reasons for this:

    • It is necessary to collect user information to verify that external users have permission to access the resources they expect to access.
    • It is important to ensure that your organization is able to properly manage and monitor access to minimize the leakage and loss of data in your organization.

The only way to disable this prompt is to share files or folders using sharing links that do not require sign-in. Select the file or folder, click Share, and choose Anyone with the link.

This should not be expected and is not recommended, as it allows anyone to access your resources without authentication.

You can ask your external users to agree to this request as consent is required before accessing the resource. And this prompt will only be prompted the first time they access SharePoint will not bother the user on subsequent occasions.

If there is anything else I can do for you, please do not hesitate to reach me.
