the error is:

I am also getting the same error, "Account is not approved for this resource". I have been search high and low but find no description on what I need to do to request my subscription to be approved.

We have the same issues. Sending a request to the BingAPIMS email address, we only got this reply:

"Thanks for reaching out. We are evaluating our sign-up process for Bing APIs. New customers who do not have a Bing resource on their subscriptions, will be unable to add a Bing resource. New customers can learn more about the latest Azure offering here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/ai-services/agents/how-to/tools/bing-grounding?tabs=python&pivots=code-example%22."

Not sure if this means that BingSearch and BingCustomSearch will be available after the "evaluation" mentioned above (whenever this will be the case).

In another reply they only told us:

"Thanks for reaching out to us. We are evaluating our sign-up process for Bing APIs. New customers will be unable to add a Bing resource to their subscriptions. Exceptions or ETA are not available. If you have additional questions, please contact BingAPIMS@Microsoft.com."

We have the same issue. It suddenly started last week, even we have provisioned Bing search resource many times earlier. Currently our DevOps pipeline, with Service principal identity, fails but we have the same issue even if trying to deploy the resource via portal.

To resolve this issue, do we ask in the email to allow service principal account and all the developers accounts to be granted with permissions?

We are experiencing the same issue and are unable to deploy Bing Search with a new subscription.

When we contacted the address listed in the error message, we were informed that the evaluation process's completion timeline is unknown and were directed to the "Grounding with Bing Search" URL.
Although deploying "Grounding with Bing Search" was possible, it requires integration with Azure AI Agent, which does not meet our requirements.

The BingAPIMS@microsoft.com contact says that there is no estimated time to resolve this issue, so whoever is also dealing with this, we are all stuck.

We are facing same problem! Tried changing the region assigning access but nothing works. If there is no ETA, how can we ever rely on this.

Seems that MS struck a deal with OpenAI and now funnels all users to "Grounding with Bing Search in Azure AI Agent Service - Azure OpenAI". Not nice, MS. Not surprising either.

Today, I too encountered this issue, even though mine is not a brand new subscription. I have sent an email to the mentioned email address but seeing the comments, I don't have high hopes. Guess I will look into the alternative.

What is the alternative to Bing Search are people considering? After researching the Grounding with Bing Search API we've found that the AIs supported don't work the way we would want.

It is not possible anymore. Microsoft answered that the only way to use bing search is by using Azure AI Agents.
First, you need to deploy an AI model and then create a bing agent

after thinking about it, it not working could've been kinda expected it being microsoft. ofc they won't tell you why and the error only appears at the end of the process. smh my head
