RDWeb Console Access

Hello, I'm running Remote Desktop Services on a Windows 2019 Platform and from time to time an RDWeb connected user has an application lockup issue or we simply need to force logoff the user connection..

My question is, what permissions or group access do I need to assign a user to so they can preform the logoff or disconnect functions. I'm currently adding the user to the Administrators group on the Server but would really like another option so this user doesn't have full access to the Server. This user will also need access to run Task Manager so they can end user applications individually from time to time. I'm open to suggestions if there's other utilities or ways to accomplish these tasks without having to be logged directly onto the server with Administrator Access.

Thanks for your help..Scott

Thank You for sharing this Karlie I will definitely take a look to see if I can figure out how to configure this for the user management of the Remote Desktop / RDWeb Console.

    Hello,

How about delegating administrative permissions in the Active Directory? As discussed in this article Delegating Administrative Permissions in Active Directory | Windows OS Hub (woshub.com), delegation allows you to grant the permissions to perform some AD management tasks to common domain (non-admin) users without adding them to the privileged domain groups, like Domain Admins, Account Operators, etc. You could create a custom task to delegate.

    Regards,

    Karlie

Thanks for the reply though I'm not sure I understand, I don't want individual users signing onto the server and running Computer Manager which is how we currently force logoff or end task a users stuck application.. We have an office person that's designated to help users with these issue's and she's been trained to open computer manager and perform these tasks for all users as needed.. I'm just looking for an option that doesn't require me to give Administrator level access to the server to preform these tasks..

    Thanks..Scott

    Hi MSWarris,

I'm here to help with your problem.

I think that RDWeb users can log off and disconnect if they have remote desktop privileges without having the Administrators group.

If users can make RDWeb connections, they can log off and disconnect as well.

Can you try removing the administration group to see if it works?

    Best regards,

    Yu
