Windows update 24H2 stopped my scanners

Since my computer updated to Windows 11 24H2 my scanner no longer works. I use MFC-8810DW. Printer works fine but I keep getting error; Scanner not found. I uninstalled and reinstalled over 10 times now. I bought the software Fortect because they claimed they could solve this issue which they didn't. I spent hours researching the Web and Brother's help service to find out there is an issue with your update that causes scanner drivers not to be recognized and/or fail to install. My hours of research and down time all come back to a bad update. Brother finally told me its not a Brother issue, it;s a Microsoft issue. When do you plan to repair the issue and notify the thousands of clients with the exact same problem?

    Hi,

    Via

Fix --- Rt click start > click device manager>double click Imaging device >rt click your imaging device and select Disable>Rt Click your imaging device again and now select update driver>select Browse my computer for drivers> select let me pick from a list of available drivers> your driver should be in the list select it>click next and after it loads sucessfully restart computer and hopefully this should now let you scan with Brother Utilities

    Hello,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Q&A.

Based on the description, I understand your question is related to win 11 24H2.

It appears that the issue with your Brother MFC-8810DW scanner not being recognized after the Windows 11 24H2 update is also discussed by many other users in forum, check this link as reference:

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/win-11-ver-24h2-causing-brother-scanning-driver/9f8946d9-dc73-4340-baaa-4b79566cc0c0?page=9

Also, I found a Microsoft known issue related to scanner:

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/release-health/resolved-issues-windows-11-24h2#3446msgdesc

After installing Windows 11, version 24H2, you might experience issues discovering USB connected devices that support the eSCL (eScanner Communication Language) scan protocol. You might observe that your device does not discover the USB connected peripheral and the device discovery does not complete. This issue primarily affects USB-connected multifunction devices or standalone scanners that support scan functionality and the eSCL protocol.

Resolution: This issue was resolved by Windows updates released December 10, 2024 (KB5048667), and later. We recommend you install the latest security update for your device as it contains important improvements and issue resolutions, including this one.

    Have a nice day.

    Best Regards,

    Molly
