The Exercise: Build a Canvas App from the Microsoft Power Apps Training does not open properly

I am trying to complete the Exercise:Build a Canvas App from the Microsoft PowerApps Training. When I create the app it does not appear as a phone layout three screen app. Instead it appears as a tablet (landscape) layout app with just one Screen called MainScreen1, as seen on the attached.

Any ideas as to how to overcome this would be appreciated.PowerApps Training Issue.PNG

I was having the same issue. I believe the steps in the exercise no longer align with how Power Apps is currently laid out. I was able to get a little farther by selecting Create an app >> Start with an app template >> From Excel, and then selecting the table in the Excel doc saved in my OneDrive. But I still don't get the pictures to load.
