    Hi Islam,

Sure! Here’s a comparison of Solid State Drives (SSD), portable hard drives, and desktop hard drives, along with recommendations for use with the Surface Go.

    1. Solid State Drive (SSD)
    • Speed: SSDs are significantly faster than HDDs. They use flash memory, resulting in rapid boot times, quick file access, and improved overall system performance.
    • Durability: SSDs have no moving parts, making them more durable and less susceptible to physical damage.
    • Form Factor: SSDs are usually smaller and lighter, often encased in sleek designs for portability.
    • Storage Capacity & Price: SSDs tend to be more expensive per gigabyte compared to HDDs. Typical capacities range from250GB to several terabytes for external SSDs.
    1. Portable Hard Drive, Desktop Hard Drive
    • Speed: Generally slower than SSDs. They use magnetic disks to read/write data, resulting in slower access times and data transfer rates.
    • Durability: More vulnerable to physical shocks since they contain moving parts.
    • Capacity & Price: Portable HDDs offer larger storage capacities at lower prices compared to SSDs, typically ranging from500GB to5TB or more.
    • Use Case: Great for backups, archiving, and storing large files where speed is less critical.
    • If speed and performance matter: External SSD is the best option. It will enhance your experience for running applications, faster file access, and better overall performance.
    • If you need large storage at a lower cost: Portable HDD is a suitable choice. It’s great for backups and storing large files, especially if speed is not a priority.

I hope this helps. If there is anything not clear, please do not hesitate to let me know.

    Your Sincerely

    Hi Islam,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

The Surface Go does not have a user-serviceable internal drive. It's best to use external options for additional storage. It's best to use external options for additional storage.

For ease of use and enhanced storage capacity, I recommend opting for a high-quality external SSD. Unfortunately, as a Microsoft agent I cannot recommend third-party hardware devices to you, but I will keep this thread open so that volunteers and other users in the community can provide you with ideas and suggestions.

    Your Sincerely
