Hello,

Google Chrome development team are now in plans of stopping support for all the x86 CPUs that don't possess the SSE3 support. MS Edge will be affected by this?

Thanks.

So would Edge work on a Windows installation on a x86 or any other motherboards?

Good day tzuitzui! I am Independent Advisor Paul R. and also a Microsoft/Windows user like you and I am glad to be able to provide assistance to you today. I understand that you are checking with regards to SSE3. Since MS Edge is Chromium built then it will also be affected and so as Windows as I believe that other OS are already requiring SSE3 support to operate. Although there is no official confirmation yet or release as to why the support for older CPU's will be removed but given the estimated fact that there will be low amount of users that will be affected presumably that more and more are using or updating to modern hardware and I think this is aiming/geared towards the future of performance of the browser.

    Regards,

    Paul R.
