Hi,

Whenever I try to opem my Trados 6 translation memory tool, I have a MEM_BAD_POINTER error message that appears and prevent me from opening my software. I have tried to download a hotfix from Microsoft for that problem, but I can't install it because the hotfix is in French. Can I get the same hotfix for my american computer ? How how can I change the language set up for my computer ?

I'd appreciate if anyone has a clue as to how I can solve this problem.

Elisa

    Hi Elisa Simonot-Kahan,

Did you encounter any error while installing this program?

Could you provide us the download link of that hotfix?

Let us perform the following methods and check if that helps us in getting rid of this message.

    Method 1.

Run the program as administrator and check if it works.

Right click on the program icon and click on Run as administrator.

    Method 2.

It seems that this program is too old to run on Windows 7.

Check the compatibility of that program with Windows 7 in this link:

    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/default.aspx

You may try installing it in Windows XP comptibility mode and check.

You can try running it in Compatibility mode and see if you could make it work, if not then you might have to upgrade it to a newer version.

I will provide you the steps to go in to the XP compatibility mode.

Here are the steps to go in to the XP compatibility mode.

To change compatibility settings manually for a program:

    1. Right-click on the software,
    2. Click Properties, and then
    3. Click the Compatibility tab.
    4. Put a check mark on “Run this program in a compatibility mode”.
    5. Select the operating system as Windows XP
    6. Click “Apply”
    7. Click “OK”

Check this link for more information.

    Hope this helps.
