I recently purchased a Nikon Coolpix P90 camera. I installed the software that came with the camera, but the ViewNX program that is supose to allow me to edit, adjust..etc my pictures will not working.  I keep getting an error message saying that ViewNX has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify me if a solution is available.

I contacted Nikon and they said it is the Quicktime program so I reinstalled Quicktime and the Nikon ViewNX programs and still nothing. They told me that they basically can no longer help me.

Please help, getting very frustrated

Thanks

Hi Suecadi,

This issue may occur due to conflict by other programs that are installed on the computer; I would suggest you to enable clean boot and then test to see if ViewNX program works fine.

Step 1: Put the computer in clean boot and then test

Follow Step 1 in the link below,

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

If everything works fine after a clean boot, you can infer that some third party services are causing the problem.

Proceed with the remaining steps to pin-point out the third party service.

After you figure out the problem causing program, you may have to update or install a higher version of the program, if you seldom use that software you can consider uninstalling it.

Important: - Remember to put the computer back to normal startup follow step 7 in the link.

Thanks and Regards:

I purchased a Nikon Coolpix camera and have many pictures I want to download onto my 2014 Dell Desktop Computer, running Windows 8.1.  When I try to run ViewNX 2 software to install it, my F (?) drive, will not start running.  Secondly, when I attach the camera cable to the computer, the computer does not recognize that the cable has been plugged in.  The message on the monitor says to plug in the cable to the computer.  Very frustrating.  Glenn

I had the same problem. Go to www.quicktime.com and download the newest version of quicktime and it will ask you if you want to repair or uninstall quicktime. Choose repair then after it is done repairing you are all set. Fixed my problem. When you install software sometimes you get the old version and you need to update it .
