I get the following error when windows starts up. It is causing me not to be able to log onto many websites such as google since it says the security certificate is invalid. Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime Error! Program: C:\WINDOWS\System32\rundll32.exe

It also has changed my calendar date to 1/13/9999

Any ideas how to fix this?

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

Runtime Error!

Program: C:\WINDOWS\System32\rundll32.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.

Please contact the application's support team for more information

In the vista forums you gave the below response but the path in 7 isn't the same so I am not sure how to do this solution.

We can try a Clean Boot on your system to figure out which program is causing the problem.

How-to run Windows in Selective Startup (Clean Boot)…
1.
Click
Start, click Control Panel, click System and Maintenance, click
Administrative Tools, and then double-click System Configuration.

2.
Click
Continue, or provide Administrator credentials if prompted.

3.
Click the
General tab, and click Selective startup.

4.
Under
Selective startup uncheck Load startup items.

5.
Click the
Services tab, check the Hide all Microsoft services box, and then click
Disable all.

6.
Click the
Apply, then OK, and then Restart.

Enable few programs again one at a time to see which one causing the problem.

    Michael 4115,

Clean boot would be a great idea for this error message to determine which particular application is responsible for this startup error.

    Step 1: Clean Boot

Here’s the article you may refer to for steps with reference to the same.

     ****

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

Once you figure out the problem application, post the same so that we can take further call on it.

Step 2: Reinstall Visual C++ Runtime Libraries

    Download and install it from:

    Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package (x86)**http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=9b2da534-3e03-4391-8a4d-074b9f2bc1bf&displaylang=en**
