Ok, I don't even know what a raid driver is, but my system crashed and it says I need a n Intel Matrix Storage Manager (iaStor.sys). I went on to the Intel website but how do I know which one I need? I'm running Vista Home premium, and I've just installed 2 'important' updates.

    Hi,

I appreciate the good explanation done by su airodump-ng -c ryan.

As clearly mentioned by him, we need to know the model number of your computer to install the required driver.  You may check the Model number either from the manual that comes along with the system when it was purchased or check for it at the tower of the Computer.

Once you have the System Model Number, go to the intel website given below, select the product and download the required system file.

    http://www.intel.com/support/idyp.htm

    This should work.

    Hello Tetrafin, welcome.

A RAID setup is for machines with multiple harddrives. Basically the idea is that you have two harddrives or more and you can either clone data (that way if one drive fails, the others have an identical backup) or you can stripe data (one piece of data split up and each part goes to a seperate drive for faster performance).

A RAID driver allows the hardware in the machine to communicate with the software on the machine. The utility that controls this is the Intel Matrix Storage Manager. Though Intel makes it, you can find the specific version for your computer on your computer's manufacturer website.

So in more simple terms, what is the make and model of your computer? We will check out the manufacturer, instead of going all the way up the chain to Intel.
