Try the steps given in this link and see if it helps.

Flight Simulator X: “An error occurred while attempting to activate the product The problem may be due to an incomplete installation of the application”

    Peter,

If you have the product key, uninstall and reinstall FSX- This time with the product key.

    Good luck!

    Hi Keith,

The solution is painful and takes a long time.

I have posted also here, under another question, but my solution was to get a program named Revo Uninstaller. It is fully operational but I decided to buy the portable version.

My solution was to uninstall ALL programs, planes and scenery items that I had installed into FSX.

    1. Make a note of all items to be uninstalled. Get, if possible, key files names, ie, fsx, lancaster, reno, etc. and write them down.
    2. Use Revo uninstaller to uninstall each item and lastly FSX.
    3. As each item is uninstalled use 'Advanced' mode in scan.
    4. Open a Registry cleaner program, I used SlimCleaner and CCleaner, or a program you might have, and clean the registry of any left over files from FSX and associated modules.
    5. Open Regedit in Administrator mode.
    6. Search the registry for any keys associated with file names in '1' above. I had to be careful here and use some discretion as to whether I deleted the folder or just the 'key associated with 'fsx', flight simulator' etc. This step took hours, there were thousands of entries, failed disk installs etc.  However long this may seem it was was better then having to reinstall the OS, in my case Windows 10 64bit.

In some of the folders where a key from FSX is found other programs will have keys, in this case only delete the key associated with your search.

This might seem a long way around but once EVERY link, key, value for FSX was removed from registry I was able to get FSX to install without any errors, this included most errors listed here.

    Hope this helps,

    Regards,

    KEith

Having exactly the same problem as Keith Harris although I'm using W8.1. This is after a re-install.

Have set the properties to remove 'run in compatibility mode' as noted elsewhere.

    Any ideas?

    Hi Divya,

    A complex issue.

After a Nov - 2015 update to Windows 10 my installation of FSX-Gold/Acceleration reverted to Demo mode and dropped out after 30 minutes.

I uninstalled FSX/Acceleration and re-installed (after PC restart) and got the usual 1311, 1722, 1603 as well as the activation error on start-up - 8-c0000006.

Also FSX had reverted to Demo mode with no product ID registered.

I did a restore to Nov 10 (update was on the 12th) and FSX now listed my product code but the program still gave the 8-c000006 error and dropped out after 30 minutes.

I have run the KB928080 app, several times, and reset the SLDL file but no changes, FSX-Acceleration still lists the Product code but remains in Demo mode.

I have posted elsewhere on this at Microsoft but no solution yet.

I prefer not to add a second account to the PC if possible to avoid.

Kind regards, best wishes for 2016

    Keith Harris
