Hi,

I have updated my Asus UX31A laptop from windows 7 home premium to windows 8 pro.

I was trying to send a file from my pc to my phone but alas I cannot find the bluetooth file transfer wizard.

I am exhausted on finding the solution on the net and I cannot find one.

What did I do?

Charm bar + Search + bluetooth file transfer   -> no results

right click on the bluetooth icon on the system tray -> no option of send file!

right click on the file + send to -> bluetooth option not included!

I checked the bluetooth services and its on automatic.

I sent a file from my phone to my pc and it worked!

what's going on here? please help..really frustrating..didn't have much trouble in windows 7..do not want to revert back to windows 7 since I am kind of loving windows 8 for the moment

Thanks,

Mickey

Edit:

The bluetooth device is from intel

Good luck sir!  I have had tremendous difficulty with bluetooth configuration with my new laptop and windows 8 and 8.1.  We are talking about 100's of hours with the manufacturer via chat, phone and in person.  I can not find the bt functions on my laptop at all today and boy i am one angry dude!  Good luck.  Do a little surfing around and you will get an idea of how widespread the problem is.  Try checking out Dell Inspirion 3521 bluetooth problems.

    Update on this.

I tried removing the bluetooth driver from intel and then the send to file options in the right click+bluetooth on the system tray now exists!!

however the high speed settings (bluetooth 3.0 + HS) and the wireless toggle is gone!!

Now I tried putting back my bluetooth driver..and indeed the send to file options again is gone..

I tried again adding my phone as a bluetooth device and now I noticed that my phone is in the start panel of windows 8 and it also exist under bluetooth device when you charm bar+search+device name

now when you click on the device it will prompt a panel I never seen before and there it is!

the send to file option is there!

    Hello

I am having a problem with the Bluetooth device. The Bluetooth will be turned on and it also will successfully pair with other devices. But in windows explorer whenever I want to send a file, there is no option for Bluetooth in "Send to" option when I right click the file.

Also I saw that the paired device names are visible in Startup window in Win 8 alongwith other applications. When I click the name of the device to which I want to send a file, a window opens as shown below.

When I click on send file the dialog box asks to select a file and then there is next option. After that it shows file transfer aborted. When I click on browse remote folder it shows following dialog box

I also updated the driver and ran the trouble-shooter which is showing no problems.

    Please help me with this.

    d) Click on view all option on the upper left corner.

    e) Select the Hardware and Device options from the list.

    f) Click Next to run the Hardware and Device Troubleshooter.

Please move to the next method if the issue persists.

If you have to temporarily disable it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you're done. If you're connected to the Internet or a network while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Step 2: Please follow the steps given below to place the computer in Clean Boot
