I am getting error code (0x80246007)  when Update is trying to install AMD device/software (?) Prior to this code it gave another one which I do not have at this moment but it was along the lines of 0x800???002 - the solution for the first error code from the forum went along the lines of stopping update service, clear files from SoftareDist and restart service then try again.  I also ran DISM - Check, Scan & Restore = No corruption., Ran TroubleShooter - applied fixes then went try again and got the code we have now., Any ideas ? New unit here, The last update was for Version 1709 OS 16299.248

HP Pavilion 15 -bw0xx   64 bit

Any thoughts ?? This is a new unit.

Thanks for your time..

    Hi,

The error you're experiencing usually occurs when the Windows Update database is corrupted. To help you resolve the issue, you can refer to this article and follow the steps regarding Restart the Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) and Windows Event Log service(also applies to Windows 10).

Let us know if you require further assistance.

    Hello,

I tried applying the measures from the article and then I got the orginal  Error 0x80070002; I applied the measures from this directive for 0x8007002

Use the troubleshooter in this article to resolve Windows Update errors "0x80070002" or "0x80070003"

Step 1: Stop the Windows Update service

Step 2: Delete temporary update files in the SoftwareDistribution folder

Step 3: Restart the Windows Update service

Step 4: See which updates are installed on the computer

Step 5: Use the DISM or System Update Readiness tool

I ran all 3 DISM commands Check/Scan/Restore and even went the distance thinking it could be a corrupted database so I ran a DISM with ISO  and still a no go as well running SFC.

    C:\WINDOWS\system32>DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /source:WIM:E:\Sources\Install.wim:1 /LimitAccess

Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool

    Version: 10.0.16299.15

    Image Version: 10.0.16299.248

[==========================100.0%==========================] The restore operation completed successfully.

    The operation completed successfully.

    Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.16299.248]

    (c) 2017 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

    C:\WINDOWS\system32>sfc /scannow

Beginning system scan.  This process will take some time.

Beginning verification phase of system scan.

    Verification 100% complete.

Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

So I am of the opinion since this is a brand new unit and am hainvg issuses already I am just going to pack it in the box and take it back. Yet Thank You for your time and direction !!
