Hi Teddie,

You encounter the error code 0x80080008 when the update is either stuck or some of the update files are not successfully downloaded and installed. We need to do further investigation on your concern so that we can identify the cause of the issue. Kindly answer the following questions for clarification:

  • Which build of Windows 10 is currently installed on your computer? To know about it, hit Start, type Winver and then press Enter. You could also press Windows Key + R, type Winver into the Run dialog and press Enter.
  • Were there any changes on your computer prior to the issue?
  • Can you tell us what troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

Furthermore, we suggest that you restart the Background Intelligent Transfer Service or BITS. This will transfer files (downloads or uploads) between a client and server. This provides progress information related to the transfers. Here are the steps:

  1. Press Windows key + R.
  2. Under the search line, type services.msc and press Enter.
  3. Look for Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS).
  4. Make sure that it is Running.
  5. If it isn’t, right-click and select Start.
  6. Right-click again and choose Properties.
  7. Choose the Recovery tab and make sure that First failure and Second failure are set to Restart service.
  8. Confirm it the check for updates once again.

We're looking forward to your response.
