Our DHCP server can't be authorized and scope won't be activated after the replacement of branch server/DHCP server, please note that we reuse the server hostname and IP address of previous DHCP server. We already removed the DHCP server from the list of authorized DHCP servers, then waited for replication, but when we tried to authorize the DHCP server, we encountered the error below: "DHCP server the specified servers are already present in the directory service" when trying to authorize. Please help advice.

    Hi,

Thanks for posting in Q&A paltform.

Based on provided information, I understand that we encountered error when authorizing new DHCP server. Please kindly refer to following information.

Based on the error message "DHCP server the specified servers are already present in the directory service", it seems like the metadata of authorized DHCP server was not cleaned up. Please help to check the metadata with following steps.

    1. Please kindly go to primary domain controller and start “Active Directory Sites and Services”.

    1. Please Click View and check “Show Services Node”.

    1. Please go to Services-NetService and check whether the retired DHCP server is still in the list. You can manually delete the server if it’s not cleaned up. And then please check if we can authorize the DHCP server successfully.
