Multiple monitors

Our teachers have Dell Latitude 3310 2-in-1 laptops and corresponding docks in classrooms. The docks are connected to a monitor and a projector. When we clean install the laptops, the teacher can either duplicate the display on all three output devices (laptop screen, monitor and projector) or they can extend the display across all three.

If they change the duplication, eg 1 & 2, 1 & 3 or 2 & 3, they lose the ability to duplicate or extend across all three output devices, unless we clean install. How can we get back to the original setup?

Thanks!

The annoying this is, is that is DOES work until you change the duplication. Typically a teacher will have their lesson on the desktop monitor and projector, so students can see it, and their email on the laptop screen, so it is private.

A reg setting must be created and if I would find what that is, a simple deltion should return it to the default of being able to extend across all three diaplays. You shouldn't have to reinstall the machine to reset it to factory default.

Change how its all connected so there's only two display devices. Now no one can break it. Fixed ;-)

Multi-display support always has issues. No OS ever really does a great job there to the point its problem free. That would be the day.

You could try maybe a switch box so its always two displays yet still offer three.

Might be a 3rd party way as well but this would have its own bugs and problems.

Would think pulling one of the display cables from the dock should kick it off as well. Ports and cables only last so long that way though so a switch that only allows one at a time would work better.

Waiting for Windows to fix it would be not the best way to go.

I would say the dock is your main problem besides Windows. You went with a setup and desire that results in a multi-display problem and now need to find a workaround.

Got it, using Win+P or through the settings, it is not possible to reach the desired configuration?

    Thankyou for your reply

No, we are not using Win/P. We are using the display settings from control panel. It shows three monitors. If the user clicks on monitor two at the top, they can select duplicate 2&3 and leave monitor 1 (the laptop screen) as unduplicated. Once they have done this, they only have the option to show only on one of the monitors, or duplicate 1&2, 1&3 and 2&3. There is no way that we can see to duplicate 1&2&3 or extend across all three monitors.

-Hi, my name is Claudeir, I'm happy to help you!

Are you using the Windows +P key shortcut to make this change?

If the shortcut is not working, go to Windows+i> system> video> go down to the option Multiple monitors, and select the desired shape.
