Hi

Today i did an update on my apple phone. Next I checked my notes and all my notes are gone. Every single one of them that I had accumulated over many years.

Does anyone know what the hell is Microsoft up to and where I can find my notes?

Thanks again for your reply Clark.

I have checked, again the period 2024-2025 is totally missing. I understand that notes are not Microsoft. But notes was synched to my Microsoft account and so Microsoft sure have a copy of the data that I can recover? I mean, why is the period 2024-2025 is missing, and again apple checked and they can see no issues on my phone or apps or settings and or any synch issues that they can resolve. My notes updated and on server prior to 2024 and post that none. Please can you think of a way to recover?

    Dear RasamAliazizi

    Thanks for your reply

I can understand your feelings of wanting to recover your data, as I said, the notes folder is not actually created by outlook itself, so it could be that after your iphone update, you lost all your data in notes.

You can try the following method:

Perform the following steps on your iPhone (not PC)

Open Safari browser Go to https://www.onenote.com/stickynotes

Sign in with your Hotmail credentials

You should now see Notes in your browser to see if you have your missing data.

    Best wishes

I have also contacted Apple customer service, together we checked the notes app. The outlook app. We deleted and reinstalled the apps. Everything we could within the settings making sure notes is visible to outlook and mail app. They see no issue on iPhone or their applications and IOS. They said Microsoft has major issue with its servers. My only question is will I get my data back. They are literally vital to me. All my data on notes stored during 2024 and 2025 are gone.

    Dear RasamAliazizi

Thanks for using Microsoft products and posting in the Community.

Are you describing the notes folder inside outlook on your phone?

The Notes folder is not an email folder, it functions more like a sticky note. You can see that the icon in front of the folder is different from the icon in front of the Inbox folder. Previously, Apple Mail incorrectly recognized the notes function as a folder so that you could move emails to notes. The outlook.com files formatted for these emails would not be properly recognized as notes, so you would see inaccessible notes in the Notes folder on outlook.com.

You can sign into your account in Windows Outlook Classic, which provides the ability to display all features as folders, this may vary between Outlook Classic versions and you will need to change the display to folders (if you can, please send me a screen shot of the Outlook Classic you have or can use). screenshots). Classic version you have or can use, please send me a screenshot and I will show you the steps to find [Folders]) to the mailbox that shows all folders and you will see the [Notes] folder, can you view these notes in Classic Outlook? If so, you can select them by dragging and dropping the new mail folder into this newly created folder to make it an accessible form.

If you don't have Classic Outlook, you can click this link (Microsoft Account | Services & Subscriptions). Microsoft 365 offers a one-month free trial. You can access Outlook Classic through a free trial of an Office 365 component. or, if you have a friend who holds a subscription or has purchased a portfolio of Office products. You can try this by signing in to your Microsoft account in your friend's Outlook Classic.

    Hi Clark,

Both in my iPhone and on my outlook and on sticky notes, none of the notes i made during the entire 2024 and 2025 exists. notes that are there, whether going to the Note App or Outlook app are all prior to 2024. There is no deleted folder that I can recover them from. The notes under iCloud are save, however the notes under Outlook are all gone for the period 2024-2025. PLEASE tell me how I can recover them. I need them and Microsoft is making it extremely difficult for me to operate this way. I have done all steps you are talking about but the notes are gone for that precisely duration, 2024-2025. Literally the last note i made was on 04/03/2025 in the AM and i did an iPhone update in the PM and this happened. PLEASE help me out.
