Excel cannot open files with upper case extensions after latest update.

Excel for Android since the latest update (April 22nd) cannot see files to open with extensions that are in upper case but the OneDrive app can see and preview the files.

If we rename the file extensions lower case Excel can see and open them but if you try the OneDrive App it  can see them and preview them but when you tell it to launch in Excel from within the OneDrive App it says that the file "Can't open file" It may have been moved, renamed or deleted.

Before we proceed with the next troubleshooting, may we ask for the exact build and version of the app that was installed in your Android?

We'll wait for the information that we needed for us to further assist you with this.

    Hi,

I have tried this on a brand new install of a tablet and still have the same issue.

Users who have the tablet (Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 2) that have not updated the app are working fine, users that have are having issues.

I have tried cutting and pasting the data into a new spreadsheet and have the same problem.

The files are stored on OneDrive and can be seen and previewed in the OneDrive App when you tell OneDrive to launch Excel you get the following error:

I can open the file if I ask Excel to open it but have always been able to ask OneDrive to open.

I still also have the issue were if files are named with an upper case extension they are not showing within the Excel App but are visible in the OneDrive App.

    Hi Andy,

We've tried reproducing your issue but we are not getting the same here on our end. To isolate the issue, may we ask if you have tried to check if there's an update on your Android device and the Excel app? If it's already updated and the same issue persists, you may Uninstall and reinstall your application and check if it will make any difference.

And also, you may try to save the file on your PC without including an extension name to the file name.

To notify us and have us get back to you, simply reply to this post.
