Adding .jpg to end of existing text in every row

I read previous posts on adding text to a cell and copying it to another column.

I need to copy all part numbers and add .jpg to the names in column "U" to column "V" then I will delete column "U"

How do I make the text show and not the formula?

I have 421 part numbers to match to jpg photos.

Also something is wrong as it is showing formula U1 in all rows not automatically changing formula for each row as it goes down.

I am definitely missing something out, have read old posts but cannot see what I am doing wrong.

Thanks

    Hi Tattoo,

I am John, an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you. I'm here to work with you on this issue.

Please type the formula below to cell V3

    =U3&".jpg"

Then copy/drag down cell V3 to fill the rest of the column. You will notice the cell references change as well.

To retain the value without the formula, highlight all the cells that contain formula. Then press Ctrl + C to copy and right click > under Paste Options > choose the second icon (please see screenshot below)

I hope it worked out well for you.

Please mark this as resolved if as such. If not, please reply back to this forum and I'll be gladly to assist you further.

    Regards,

    John

    Hi,

Yes have changed the names to add .jpg.

If I delete column "U"  I get row of hashes in Column V.

Not sure which option to use in the menu for second part of your answer to keep the new names with the .jpeg.

"To retain the value without the formula, highlight all the cells that contain formula. Then press Ctrl + C to copy and right click > under Paste Options > choose the second icon (please see screenshot below) "

    Thank You.

    Hi Tattoo,

Actually "Paste Values" from Home tab (first screenshot) and "Values" under Paste (second screenshot) are the same. You can choose any of the two options.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Thank you,
    John
