Excel spreadsheet sort issue, please help!

Any advice really received gratefully!!!  I have an excel spreadsheet with over 7000 entries - each entry has about 15 columns of various data.  I use this spreadsheet mainly but  others in my office can access/edit via Office 365...

One of my columns has been 'mysteriously' sorted alphabetically, and whoever did it did not expand the selection to the other columns.  Therefore I have one element per entry totally out of whack with what it should be    Is there anyway I can get the sorted a-z column to align back to the other columns. I think it was done about 3 weeks ago...

Otherwise I have over 7000 new pieces of info to input manually....

Any suggestions very much welcome!

Thank you very much for the info, I now know at least it wasn't me who did the changes!!!

Looks like some serious manual inputting is required... :0

    Hi Emma,

Sorry for the trouble caused at your end.

As far as I know when you sort the values in the Excel with Expand and sort, it will sort the selected column and will keep align with other columns in the Excel worksheet.

But if you applied just sort feature for the column it will sort only the applied column and will not keep align with another column. Moreover, re-apply the Expand and sort or just sort will not keep the align with another column as before, we need to click Ctrl + Z to undo the actions.

Since you mentioned the other can access the workbook and one of the columns sorted without aligning with other columns, I am afraid that it’s not possible to align back previously because it was happened 3 weeks ago. However, as others can work with the workbook, I assume the file is stored either in OneDrive or SharePoint Online, if yes, you can check the Version History of the problematic Excel file and check the old version.

Open the Library where the file is stored> Select the file> Show actions (three vertical dots)> Version History.

Appreciate your understanding and stay safe! 😊

    Best Regards,

    Ivy
