How do I enable basic authentication

Hi can someone please help me.

I am using a cloud based practice management system and I would like to connect the outlook calendar to it.

The issue is that when I tried to sign in my calendar it keeps coming as 'Authentication Failed: Exchange Server Responded with 'Unauthorised' (401).

I have contacted support from the practice management provider and they have responded and to the following:

"... I've discussed this with some members of our team. I understand you have a relatively new Microsoft Office 365 Account - if this is the case, it's likely won't have what is called basic authentication or OAuth1.0 enabled. This is what Actionstep uses to connect with your Microsoft Account, and without it., you won't be able to connect your calendar. For older accounts, we used to be able to change this manually, but for newer accounts, we found that Microsoft has hidden this feature. As such, can you please raise a ticket with Microsoft and ask them to enable basic authentication/OAuth1.0 on your account please?"

My question is who do I contact, and how can I resolve this issue of connecting my outlook calendar to the practice management system.

Many thanks in advance.

    Hello Tom082021,

    Thanks for your post.

According to the error message, may I confirm if you ever configured Conditional Access policy in Azure AD admin center? If so, please check if there's any policy preventing your account from signing in Outlook desktop client.

If you've enabled security defaults in your organization, Basic authentication is already disabled in Exchange Online. Please see Basic Authentication and Exchange Online for the latest announcements concerning Basic authentication.

In addition, may l know what is the environment in your organization, Exchange Hybrid or pure Office 365? If you are using Microsoft 365 Business email account or some other email accounts?

    Thanks,

    Nerissa
